Sunday School: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

Children are at the heart of God’s kingdom – and at the heart of St. Paul’s. Our Sunday School is shaped by the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS), a Montessori-based approach that invites children ages 3–12 into prayer, discovery, and joy.

On Sunday mornings, children gather in the Atrium inside St. Paul’s Center – a sacred, hands-on space designed for wonder and reflection. With the guidance of trained catechists, they hear Bible stories, explore parables, work with materials that bring Scripture and liturgy to life, sing, create art, and pray together.

What may look simple or quiet from the outside is, for the child, a profound encounter with God. The catechist introduces materials and stories, but the most important learning happens in the child’s own relationship with God, nurtured by the Holy Spirit.

We Believe that:

God has a unique and holy relationship with every child.
Children grow best when given their own sacred space —the atrium.
Hands-on learning invites children to discover Scripture and worship for themselves.

Over time, children in CGS develop a deep love for the Bible, the sacraments, and the prayers of the church. They grow not only in knowledge, but in peace, joy, and faith.
